About
The Happy Dreamer
Grace Marie-Line Frogosa
I’m Grace. I was born in Montréal, Québec, Canada.
I now live in south Germany with my husband and two sons.
My hobbies include playing the piano and swimming. I enjoy seeing new places and using newfound impressions as inspiration for my picture books.
I can express myself better in writing than verbally. Colours are important to me. If I feel down, painting with varied colours make my world more colourful and brighter. I work mostly in watercolours but enjoy experimenting too.
It is fun to come up with ideas for a story and sometimes the inspiration comes quickly and sometimes many revisions are necessary.
I am inspired from many author/illustrators like Peter Reynolds and am a huge fan of Arnold Lobel. One of my favourite picture books is A Chair for my Mother by Vera Williams, a 1982 Caldecott Honor Book, given to me by my second grade teacher Mr. Kumar, for doing well in school.
I enjoy painting regularly with a painting group where we explore, experiment and get inspired from great painters like Gabriele Munter, Lyonel Feininger, William Turner, and Oskar Koller for example.
All my picture books to date have been self-publsihed. I would love to one day be traditionally published. I would also like to explore writing inspirational books too. My book Birds of Pray falls into that category.
My wish is for children and people of all ages who read my books to be entertained, inspired or to feel less alone or misunderstood. If I can do that for one person, I would have done my job. Also never forget to dream and to dream big!
